What makes you a top prospect at your position in the 2023 NFL Draft?
Consistency and adaptability. Coaches know what they are going to get when I am playing, execution is everything. My ability to perform at my highest level every play allows me to be a reliable player for my teammates and coaches. I am also able to adjust instantly to changing fronts and tendencies on the field during games, no matter the situation.
At what age were you first interested in the sport of football?
I have played football since I was 7 but never developed a true interest in the sport until I was 12. Before that my interests were focused more on baseball.
What is one thing that NFL teams should know about you?
Growing up working on a farm developed a strong work ethic. I came into college weighing 270 lbs and am leaving weighing over 300, having put on 28 pounds of muscle. I was only a 1-year starter in high school but worked my way into a four year starter role in college. My work ethic and drive have helped me develop into the player I am today.
If you could donate to one cause in the world, what would it be?
Wounded Warrior Project, support our troops who were injured or killed fighting for our freedoms.
What is the best advice you have ever received?
Clear your head before every play. What happened in the previous play is finished, the most important play is the next one. Focus on what needs to be done and execute.
Who was your childhood hero?
Peyton Manning. He turned Indianapolis from a basketball city into a football city and that is the reason why I started to appreciate football and fall in love with the game.
Who is the most underrated teammate in your locker room at your school?
Colton Ruhland, is an undersized offensive lineman but is quick on the field and gritty on every play.
What is your biggest pet peeve?
D linemen who complain about holding. Just shed the block.
Overcoming adversity is what defines character, what was the hardest moment in your life to overcome?
A winless season post-covid will always hurt me. 15 months of training, the majority of which was alone because of Covid, and all that work felt like it never paid off because of it.
Tell me something about your school and why it is so special to you?
Butler University has great academics and sets their students up for life. It is also located in Indianapolis, IN which is a great city for anyone starting out their careers post-graduation. Butler football is also unique in the fact that our conference is spread out from coast to coast, so players have the ability to play against players from around the country.
What is your favorite snack food?
What is the best part of football?
My teammates, they are the reason I work and play so hard. I do it for the guys on the field with me.
If you could sell yourself in one sentence what would you say?
I will never let down those who surround me.
If you could compare your play to one player in the NFL who would it be?
I won’t compare myself to anyone but I have always admired Taylor Lewan’s playing style.
If you could have dinner with three people dead or alive, who would it be and why?
Abraham Lincoln, Ben Franklin, and Colonel Sanders. Obvious reasons for the third choice but the other two are some of the most influential men from their centuries.
