What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?
The funny thing is I didn’t want to be a football player, I thought it was too much and wanted to play baseball. Then, when I played my first game, and I scored my first touchdown I fell in love with the rush you get from the sport.
What are your favorite moments from your football life?
Playing with my friends from high school (Danville IN). We all played together from 5th grade all the way to seniors in high school and I have always been thankful for that, I love those guys like family.
What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?
At the moment I want to win a National Championship with Marian this year. After, I want to play football at the next level. NFL, CFL, XFL anything to keep playing football.
If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?
A person I would love to sit down and talk is Pat Tillman. He was an amazing football player and an even better person. I’ve watched his A Football Life about 10 times and his story is amazing.
Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?
My mom inspires me everyday. Growing up she was a single mom with 4 kids. She would work an 8-hour shift and then come home to get dressed for another job with smile on her face. She was super women to me and I still see her like that today.
What is your favorite offensive scheme and why?
My favorite offensive scheme in football is the spread style offense. Just throwing the ball and watching wide receivers make these incredible catches are always amazing to watch.
What should we know about Ben Stevens the person?
Ben Stevens is a simple man. I love my friends and family and would do anything for them. I don’t need much and a good day for me is some football with my buddies while I work on my truck.
What stands out about your film the most?
Something that stands out about my film is that I can play multiple positions without being overwhelmed with all the information. Also, being able to attack the football in the air and run by people when needed to.
How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?
I handle challenges in life and football the same way. I just take a step away from all the noise. I’ll walk away from the situation and just breathe and calm myself down. In football I play very emotional so it takes me a second to control them sometimes.
What would a team get in a player like you?
A team would be getting a player who will do anything for the team and anything for an opportunity to play. I’ll play special teams, switch positions or whatever for an opportunity.
What is your typical training routine?
A typical training day for me is lifting in the morning. Classes for most the afternoon, then another lift with field drills at the end.
Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?
The most underrated football player I’ve ever played with is Baron Huebler running back for Marian. Baron works hard and takes hard hits like they are nothing. He turns negative plays into positives all the time, and I’ve never seen this man go backwards when getting tackled. He always does everything right on and off the field, and he’ll be an amazing player for Marian continuing on.
